Summer Lax FAQs

Where in England can I play Summer Lax?

You can now play Summer Lax in 2 locations.

  • London

  • Manchester – Platt Lane

How long is the season?

Do we need to play every night of the week?

No – Each venue/location is one night a week. The day of the week is consistent for the whole season. So get that night of the week in your diary and see you on the pitch. If you are in London there is nothing stopping you from entering another team at the other venue and playing more than once a week over both seasons..

Does each venue play on every night of the week?

No. Each venue plays one night a week that stays consistent. You can see all the information under the relevant venue page by clicking the relevant venue page, or contacting your local Summer Hub Manager

How do I register my team?

Registrations are OPEN, click on the REGISTER HERE button and follow the instructions through. If you are already registered in our system (i.e. you have entered a team in a previous season) then log into the system with your existing username and password. If you can't remember your log-in details simply email us and we'll re-set that for you.

How many people in a team?

You can have up to 12 players in your squad, and it is 5-aside on the field at any one time, no goalkeepers. All teams are mixed team and you must have 2 males and 2 females on the pitch at all times. You can register a maximum of 8 males or 8 females in your team.

Can I register as an individual player?

Yes – you can register your details for any venue that you wish. We will be  putting individuals into teams together, a great way to meet new people, play with different people, after all it is Summer Lax: for everyone! You may also want to register as a ‘ringer’ – this would notify any team looking for an additional player on any night of your availability. If you are super keen, want to learn more or just want to play more games this might be the option for you as well!

How much is it to enter?

England Lacrosse prides itself on offering great value for money consistent with other sporting leagues and pitch up events. The costs are the same at every venue, it works out at £5.20 a week per player, cheaper than nipping for a swim.

Does my registration fee include playing shirts?

Each new player registered on the Summer Lax system is entitled to a FREE Summer Lax reversible shirt to play your games in. Your registration fees cover the cost of venue hire, sports management system, summer hub manager, officials, equipment, affiliation fees, insurances amongst other costs.  You will receive a shirt on sign up and subsequent leagues you join will not be eligible for another shirt.

All players will be required to wear the shirts to play and as they are reversible their will never be team clashes.

If I cancel my registration can I get my deposit back?

If you cancel before the season starts, and we haven’t turned other teams away due to that particular league night being full already, then we will consider a refund of your deposit (or full amount if that’s what was paid). If the season has started or we have turned teams away due to the league being full then unfortunately we are unable to make a refund of any monies unless we are able to find a team to replace you in the league.

How do I make payment?

Once you have followed the instructions through and registered your team or as an individual, the website will take you directly to the payment site – here you now have the option of paying the deposit or full amount. Please note that no place is guaranteed unless either the deposit or full amount is paid. If you are signing back in to pay the balance on your account, click on 'My Statement' on the left hand side of your profile.

Is there a penalty for not having team shirts?

Yes – if your team is not wearing team shirts after the 2nd week then we may at our discretion deduct any points scored in the following weeks of play until a uniform is supplied. We are giving you the shirts to wear, their should be no excuse.

Are there any hidden costs?

None whatsoever.

When do registrations open?

Registrations for 2021 Early Summer leagues are now OPEN. Late Summer will be open soon. Please see the relevant venue pages for leagues. Simply follow the link Enter a Team or as an Individual or if you are a current member log on with your existing username and password.

What sort of shoes do we wear?

You can wear boots or trainers, but remember its summer and the ground is hard. Players are also not allowed to play in bare feet. Some venues are on 4g/astro so take this into consideration and please remember to bring a change of shoes that ae clean for these venues.

How long are the games and what time do we play?

At almost all venues games are 20 mins long 2 x 10 min halves. Games will always start on time with the hub manager sounding the horn at the start times. Their will be quick turn arounds between games so make sure you are ready to go for your start time. All teams will play 2 matches a night Referees will allow 5 minutes before calling a default at their discretion if you are late for your game.

What happens if we can’t play one evening due to other commitments?

Hopefully you have chosen a night where you have no other commitments for the season, but if your team is unable to play then you MUST contact the Summer Hub Lead on 6s@englandlacrosse.co.uk so that we can let your opposition know by 12h00 on the day prior to your fixture. If you are short on players we may be able to help you with ringers and get the game on.

Do I have to put all team members’ details into my team registration when I register?

YES - all team members details are required for indemnity purposes. Also, team members will be able to receive news and information from us and more importantly weekly game times and availability – see below. You will also be able to email your team from the system if you have their details registered.

How do I know what time my team is playing each week?

Our system will send an email to each team member registered to let them know what time they are playing. This email will be received the last working day before the game and then the again the next week for the following game. The email will ask for the players' availability - they can choose 'Available' or 'Unavailable' which will send an automatic email through to the team organiser so they know at the touch of a button who is playing each week. Fixtures, results and standings are also available on the Summer Hub website under the venue page.

Does each venue have a women’s or men’s competitions?

At the moment we will only have mixed at all venues but watch this space for the future.

If I haven’t played before am I able to come down and just watch?

Of course! Feel free to come down to any of our venues and check out how the game is played. You can ask around for the summer hub manager (usually easily spotted wearing Summer Lax gear and carrying a clip board) and they will be able to show you around, tell you more and hopefully get you signed up.

Do you only play over the summer months?

The name gives it away, Summer Lax is here as a playing opportunity in the summer months, if you have loved it and want to play more please email 6s@englandlacrosse.co.uk and we can link you to the best person or club near you so you can continue your lacrosse journey with them, but remember to come back and play next summer.

How far can I go with Summer Lax?

The world is your oyster, 6’s is on the start of a very exciting journey, with the announcement of a National 6’s event, more clubs hosting tournaments the future is bright leading towards international representation. Speak to a Hub manager about the pathway and your next steps, if you just want to play once a week with friend we love that too.
